Lieutenant(N) Wayne Romberg was born and raised in Toronto and currently is a long term Mississauga resident along with his wife, and adult son. Lt(N) Romberg is also a grandfather of two elementary school granddaughters.
While Lt(N) Romberg was himself never a cadet in the Canadian Cadet Program, however he is the son of a Canadian Army veteran who served with the First Hussars Regiment during and immediately after WW2, in Canada, United Kingdom, France, Belgium, and occupied Germany, before demobilizing after returning home to Canada in early 1946 and was later a branch president for 19 years in the Royal Canadian Legion, therefore Lt(N) Romberg was exposed since his mid teens to both community service, citizenship and the Canadian Military, and its associated heritage and history. Lt(N) Romberg became involved with the Cadet Program when his son joined as a Sea Cadet in Mississauga back in the late 2000’s, and he himself enrolled in the Canadian Forces as an Officer Cadet with RCSCC Illustrious in Brampton, ON in 2009.
While having served in the roles of Supply Officer, Administration Officer, and Training Officer, with both RCSCC Illustrious (139 Sea) in Brampton, and more recently with RCACS Snowy Owl (892 Air) as their Deputy Commanding Officer, he also serves as long-term part-time Movements Officer, primarily at Pearson International Airport, where he provides Airport Supervision to cadets travelling to out of region Cadet Training Centres (CTC) from arrival at the airport, until they board the flight, or from them departing the aircraft until they either board another flight, or are handed of to parents and guardians, or military driver or supervised chartered bus that takes them to the CTC. Lt(N) Romberg also early in his career in the cadet program, served as a Boats Officer at the Mississauga Sailing Centre (Nautical Centre).
Lt(N) Romberg is a graduate of the Industrial Engineering program at Ryerson University (now known as Toronto Metropolitan University), where he received his Bachelor of Engineering Degree (Industrial Engineering). He started his engineering career after graduation with Boeing Canada, de Havilland Division in Toronto (Downsview Plant) in the Production and Industrial Engineering department where the Dash 8 Regional airliners were designed, produced and assembled. Since leaving de Havilland, Lt(N) Romberg has since specialized in Logistics Engineering for the last 30 plus years, where he has designed and supported warehouses and distribution operations for both his immediate employers and third-party clients in the 3PL industry, serving the automotive, aerospace, fast moving consumer goods, and pharmaceutical and health care industries, where he worked for several Global companies.
Lt(N) Romberg has attained several certifications, including Air Rifle Range Safety Officer, Advanced Instructor Qualification, DND 404, SCOP Levels 1- 4 including his Restricted (Marine) Operators Certificate (VHF Radio License). Lt(N) Romberg used to be a recreational sailor, having primarily sailed 25 ft to 35 ft keel (sail) boats as crew in weekly recreational club races in the past.
